Variations in Municipal Drop Off Centers –

    • Each HRRA municipality provides an option for residents who don’t contract with a hauler to bring their own recyclables to a local disposal facility.  These facilities are known as Drop Off Centers, Mom & Pop Recycle Centers, Transfer Stations, or Recycling Centers depending on the municipality.  Items accepted at the Drop Off Centers vary widely depending upon the municipality.
    • All but Bridgewater require residents to obtain a local permit before using the facility, and most charge a small, per item fee to cover the cost of operating the facility.
    • All but the AWD/City of Danbury Mom & Pop Recycle Center are open only to residents of the municipality.
    • Before using your local facility, check the information from your municipality by clicking on your community in the map at the right. Below the map is a link to a summary chart showing items accepted at each municipal Drop Off Center and a number to call for your town to get additional information on hours of operation and fees.  There is also a link below the map giving directions to each local Drop Off Center.

EPA Estimates
EPA estimates that 75% of what Americans throw in the trash could actually be recycled. Currently, only 30% is.
