We need volunteers skilled in the following: sewing, electrical repair, bicycle repair, woodworking, jewelry repair, or computer/technology.
*Volunteers need to bring their own materials/tools.
We also need general volunteers to help set up and checking in guests.
Residents can bring their broken, but cherished, items to have them repaired on-site with the help of volunteer fixers!
Repair Cafés prolong the life of household items, reduce waste, and help you save money.
When you arrive, we’ll ask you to complete a form detailing what needs fixing. The form also includes a waiver you must sign releasing HRRA, DAV, and your fixer from claims. Items you offer for repair are at your own risk.
If you pre-registered, you will have an appointment time with your fixer.
Walk-in’s are welcome! You will be assigned a fixer on a first-come, first-served basis.
Bring any spare parts or manuals you have for items that need fixing. If you’ve already attempted repairs, please tell the fixers.
The Repair Café is comprised entirely of volunteers. Please treat them respectfully. We can’t guarantee that your item can be repaired.
Repairs are free, except for necessary parts you may need to buy.
Donations to the fixers and the Disable American Veterans to cover costs are appreciated.
You must be able to carry in an item needing repair and carry it out if it’s not repairable. Gas engines are not allowed. If your fixable item needs gluing, consider coming early to allow for drying time.

Fixers repair one item per customer at a time. If you bring more than one item, you’ll return to the queue after your first repair. Plan to stay at the fixing station until your repair is completed. Fixers may refuse to repair your item and are not responsible for reassembling it if it can’t be repaired.
